New car, new ideas. Plans are for a nice, fast, everyday driver, it never will become un-streetable. I realised that my ideas with the last car got into contradicting themselves, such as having a really really fast car thats also a really nice street car with ice A/C. Of course she went on a slight diet to get rid of some understeer and the A/C was first to go.
- Body
- There will be no modifications to the body. The idea here is to look stock, its going to be a sleeper. The only thing I'm thinking is a wheel change (White Compomotive MOR 17x8s), mostly so I can use wider tires and bigger brakes. Same as the other car, because I really like the look of these wheels and I still want bigger brakes. Those Compomotives are a dream, for now in reality I have myself some 17" wheels from an A4 that will go on.
- Engine:
- Looking for as much power as possible without going incredibly un-reliable.
- Transmission/Driveline:
- No reason to change anything here on this one, it's all bulletproof from the factory, except the clutch. The clutch will be a Spec clutch with a lightweight pressure plate and a better disc. Flywheel is lightened to about 15lbs.
- Turbo (including everything from the exaust ports to the throttle body):
- Cold air intake, stock EM, stock IM, K26/k27 hybrid turbo. Michelin man hose has been changed to a silicon hose with a custom throttle body.
- Suspension:
- Nothing except new bushings when I get to it, MAYBE some H&R lowering springs.
- Electronics:
- MegaSquirt EFI controller for injection, and I'm planning on doing alot of electronics on this one. I am wanting to learn more about electronics (PCB style stuff) so I'm using my car as a learning project, and hopefully I'll make some neat features. I am going to build a car control ECU that will do anything that the EFI and whatever ignition I use wont do. Main features I'm going for are programable afterrun setup like OEM, modernized interior lighting (lights fade in/out), cruise control, and I want to drive the OEM digital dash, among other things.
- Interior:
- 7 inch LCD screen
- Autometer boost gauge in bar
- Ignition:
- Stock ignition for now, looking at better options (Tomtek and UltraMegaSquirt are front runners)
- Computer System:
- Custom built case integrated into rear trunk
- Everything extensivly rubber mounted for shock protection in the worst of conditions
- 7inch LCD screen inside
- Wiresless keyboard and wireless optical mouse
- Will be the center of the Mp3 audio system
- Will be capable of DVD movie playback
- Will datalog all availible parameters for review in case something goes wrong
- Will provide tuning ability on the road, and will provide different fuel maps for plain driving, sport driving, fuel economy, and full on racing.
- Custom designed Windows shell that makes navigation between the used applications easier.
- Custom shell will provide ability to run WinAmp, MegaTune (EFI software), DVD Software, and a few others.
